Tommy Stewart

Tommy Stewart is a contemporary shorebird carver and painter. His concentration and discipline is centered around his life-like qualities in his work, design, and composition.  Through a history of acclaimed works, Tommy has studied shorebird anatomy and color theory, advancing in this art form, mentoring aspiring artists, adding that he too as an artist is a lifelong student.  Tommy competes and judges at the most prestigious wildfowl art shows throughout the country.  In addition to competing and judging, he also conducts seminars and lectures.
Most notable awards include:
2006, ’07, ’11 – The North American Shorebird Carving Championship, WETLANDS INSTITUTE in STONE HARBOR NEW JERSEY where his GREATER YELLOWLEGS, EASTERN WILLET, and BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER will be permanently on display.
2008 – International Wildfowl Carving Association Shorebird Champion.
2010, ’12, – Ward World DECORATIVE SMOOTHIE SHOREBIRD CHAMPION.
2023, ’24 – Ward World Interpretive Wood Sculpture,  THIRD BEST IN WORLD.
2024 – AWARDED a Fellowship from the New York State Council of the Arts.
2025 – Ward World Interpretive Wood Sculpture,  BEST IN WORLD.
