After finishing third in World Decoy Pairs in 1993 and 1997, he was awarded Best in World in 2002, 2005 and 2014. A past exhibitor at the Southeastern Wildlife Festival in Charleston, Welsh has been juried into the Waterfowl Festival held in Easton, Maryland since 2002.
