Bill Kennedy was born in Havre de Grace, MD and first made decoys at 12 years old. Around age 14, he began repairing and painting decoys for the Edgewood Arsenal Rod and Gun club, working with a collection of over 3,000 pieces from noted carving families like Ward, Holly and Blair. These antique decoys influenced Kennedy’s carving style, leading him to compete and win in various shows in the Contemporary Antique division of the Ward World Carving Championship. He is also a well-known wildlife sculptor, working in wood, clay and bronze to bring not just ducks but bears, elk and wolves to life with his work.
