Lepper began carving wildfowl in 1986 after a career as an advertising art director and graphic designer. Since he began competing in 1987, he has won numerous ribbons, including many Best in Shows in Canada, and in the U.S. In 1992 he started competing at the Ward World Championship, and in 1999 placed Second in World, Decorative Miniature Wildfowl. In 2003 he won a Best in Masters Decorative Life-size Wildfowl, and second in World Decorative Miniature Wildfowl. He has shown his work at the Easton Waterfowl Festival for the past ten years. Noted primarily for his songbirds, he is also recognized for his raptors. He is a respected teacher of bird carving in Canada and the US.
