Mike Frady is recognized for having carved species indigenous to the area like mallard, pintail and teal. His decoys display a variety of head positions and attitudes. While Frady did only minor surface carving, he delineated the wing tips and detailed the bill with nostrils, mandible separations and a line-carved bill-to-head joint. What Frady lacked in surface carving, he made up for with painting that combined dots and brushstrokes for a stylized plumage pattern. Though he was one of Louisiana’s lesser known decoys carvers, Mike Frady produced quality stool that served area hunters well.
