Olivia Dutton, along with her sister Laura Dutton, both won awards at the 2014 Ward World Championship Wildfowl Carving Competition. The sisters live in Fredrick, Maryland. On average it takes the girls about a week to carve a competition worthy piece. While they have only entered bird carving competitions in the past, both girls have taken to creating carvings outside of wildfowl, such as cats or dragons. The sisters inherited their interest in carving from their mother, Charlotte Dutton, who placed third at the Ward Championship in 2014. Their mother uses carving to teach the sister’s about wildlife, by having them carve the animals they see on their frequent bird watching trips. When not carving or bird watching, they are kept busy taking care of the animals on their family farm.
