Terry McNulty grew up in the Delaware River carving school, which emphasized extreme detail, sleek styling and hollow bodies. Sculling ducks on the river forced this level of detail, since the decoys need to hold the ducks while the hunter slides up next to them before firing. McNulty originally hunted with commercially available birds and spent several seasons repairing them before trying his hand at carving his own. After taking Third place in the Ward Competition in Salisbury, MD with a Mallard Hen, McNulty soon became a well known competitive carver with significant awards taken at national and international shows.
